2020 In Review

What a year. Over the first few days of 2021, I’ve spent some time looking back on 2020 and taking in all the positive things I managed to do, and achieve, recognising how far my business has come despite this crazy crazy year and everything it’s thrown at us.

Wedding Styling

I branched out into wedding styling and booked my first big weddings for 2021 (absolutely terrible timing, but it gave me the time to really explore and find my style whilst working on this side of my portfolio).

Styled Shoots

Throughout 2020, I worked with a host of suppliers on eight different styled shoots. I met some amazing people and made some great industry friends that I’m looking forward to working with again soon.

Worked ON my business

2020 gave me downtime to work ON my business, rather than just IN it. There’s so much we do as small business owners behind the scenes and looking at the positives, this year gave me time to focus. I re-designed my website, wrote blog posts, improved my SEO, and built a new instagram account.

Postcards & Prints

2020 really was the year of the ‘pivot’ and so I designed products which kept my busy, starting with a range of postcards and prints inspired by song lyrics, which were featured in Stylist Magazine.

Invested in myself

I invested in my business properly for the first time. I signed up for my first wedding show - The Un-Wedding Show. It sadly was postponed, but I’m very much looking forward to it so I can meet you lot in person. It’s gonna be mega. I also worked with various coaches to up level.

I got engaged!

Definitely not business related, but still very exciting and starting to think about my own wedding plans has been very fun. More on this to come in 2021.

My #MoodboardMonday Series

The downtime in Lockdown one gave me the opportunity to spend more time writing content for the blog. I started my #moodboardmonday series, sharing ideas and inspiration for wedding styling with product selections to go alongside them.

Worked with a ‘bucket-list’ brand

I designed and styled an event for a HUGE brand that I’ve always wanted to work with (although sadly can’t share any details as it was under NDA).

Started Studio Dine

2020 - The year I started a product wing to my service based business with Studio Dine. I started making my own playful dinner candles in Lockdown two - Something I’d wanted to do for such a long time but had never got round to. And it went so well. Big plans for this in the new year so stay tuned.

Christmas Workshops

As usual, I hosted various Christmas workshops showing you how to be a little less wasteful around the festive period, including a couple for PR companies and sustainable brands. Hoping to do some more styling related workshops in the new year too.

…and I kept going!

It really was the hardest year in so many ways, but even dealing with the many challenges thrown my way I managed to stay positive and made it work.
